Stars August 24-30, 2008

Charlize Theron looked pretty in pink at the Venice Film Festival, but turned red when a reporter asked her to marry him. The actress -- who's dating Stuart Townsend -- danced around the awkward proposal, telling her suitor, "you are very cute, but my boyfriend would kill you."

Brad Pitt and George Clooney were also in Venice promoting their new film "Burn After Reading." It was Brad's first red carpet since the birth of his twins in July.

Meanwhile, Brad's ex Jennifer Aniston was all smiles while leaving her office, perhaps over the news of her return to TV. The "Friends" star will be appearing on "30 Rock" this fall.

Also making her small-screen return is Shannen Doherty, who's starring in the "90210" spin-off. Last week, Shannen dispelled rumors that she got into a fistfight with costar Jennie Garth in their heyday.

Although the U.S. version of Paris Hilton's reality show has yet to air, she's already taking her search for a new best friend over to the U.K. Apparently one can't have too many best friends (or television salaries)!

Paris' ex-BFF Kim Kardashian has a new gig: "Dancing With the Stars." This year's other contestants include openly gay boy bander Lance Bass, soap queen Susan Lucci, and Olympian Misty May-Treanor.

We know Tom Cruise and Katie Holmes are close, but there's no need to share jeans! The couple has relocated to New York for Katie's Broadway debut in "All My Sons." Previews for the Arthur Miller revival begin in September, but advance sales have reportedly been poor.

A grown-up Daniel Radcliffe will also make his debut on the Great White Way, when he bares all in "Equus."

Rosario Dawson, Jennifer Lopez, and Jessica Alba turned out for the Voto Latino party during the Democratic National Convention. The organization helps Latino citizens register and vote.

Meanwhile, Jennifer's ex Ben Affleck lent his star power to numerous events around the Democratic National Convention, including a book reading and a food drive.

Every few months, reports surface that Halle Berry is engaged. The Oscar-winner was seen sporting a giant rock on her ring finger last week. Is she finally ready to settle down with her model man Gabriel Aubry?

Sean "Diddy" Combs can afford to pay for bling, but not for his own private jet. The rising cost of fuel has forced the hip-hop mogul to travel on commercial flights and plea for free oil from his "Saudi Arabia brothers and sisters."
