Rick Schroder To Direct 'Hellhounds' For Sci-Fi Channel

After starting his young career as T.J. in the award winning "The Champ", and then the popular television sitcom "Silver Spoons", actor turned producer and director Rick Schroder is again trying his hand behind the camera.

Schroder is taking his directing skills to the Sci-Fi Channel for the big budget "Hellhounds", scheduled to air sometime next year.

"Hellhounds", set in 500 B.C., stars Scott Elrod as Kleitos, a Greek warrior who, with his friends, fights against the hellhounds of Hades to rescue his bride from the Underworld and bring her back to life. The film, written by Paul A. Birkett, is said to be full of CGI and tremendous special effects.

In addition to Schroder's role as Detective Danny Sorenson on "NYPD Blue", and his character Dr. Dylan West on "Strong Medicine", the actor can be seen as Mike Doyle in the hit series "24".

Schroder is currently producing, directing and starring in the thriller "Locker 13", due next June, an anthology feature film comprised of seven separate small vignettes, where each story is connected by a mysterious locker 13.

Schroder is also currently filming "Blood Done Sign My Name", a drama based on the true story about a black Vietnam-era veteran who is allegedly murdered by a local white businessman who is later exonerated. The plot focuses on the role of a local high school teacher and the civil unrest that followed the acquittal.
