Mackenzie Phillips Busted At LAX For Heroin And Cocaine

Remember Mackenzie Phillips? She played Julie Cooper Horvath on the long running '70s sitcom "One Day At A Time".

Phillips left the show several times, but finally left for good in 1981. The producers wrote her character out by saying she was leaving to train for her new job. But Phillips really left the series because of a well-documented drug abuse problems.

Now, Mackenzie has been arrested for heroin and cocaine after she was found carrying the drugs at Los Angeles International Airport LAX. Police said the actress was arrested Wednesday.

Mackenzie, 48, was traveling to New York when she failed a security screening, and an ensuing search revealed a small amount of cocaine and heroin.

Mackenzie Phillips is the daughter of John Phillips, from the musical group the "Mamas and the Papas", and has battled drug addiction for years.

She returned to television in 1999 starring in the Disney Channel series "So Weird", about a young girl who travels around the country continually stumbling over supernatural occurrences, and without anyone to believe her, she posts what she finds on her website entitled "So Weird".

The actress has also appeared in the movies "American Graffiti" portraying Carol, and the sci-fi thriller "The Jacket" playing a nurse.

Phillips has also appeared in guest roles on various TV shows including "Cold Case", "7th Heaven", "NYPD Blue", "Without a Trace", "The Division", "ER", "Walker, Texas Ranger", "Caroline in the City", "Melrose Place" and "Beverly Hills, 90210"

Phillips has no current television or movie projects underway at this time.
