Michael Jackson Trial To Be Pushed Back Again

Michael Jackson’s personal doctor, Conrad Murray, has requested extra time for the defense to prepare for this huge trial.

Conrad Murray is being charged with involuntary manslaughter, which came about after pop icon, Michael Jackson, suddenly died. Murray has entered a plea of not guilty to the charges and has now asked for the trial to be delayed a second time just a week before it's due to begin.

The beloved pop singer was found dead back in 2009 after a Propofol overdose that was supposedly administered by Murray. The prosecution has taken a firm stance in the case and they are ready to begin, but the defense keeps asking for delays.

Contactmusic.com reveals that the case was originally supposed to begin back on March 11, but as of now the trial still does not have a jury and has not taken even the smallest of steps towards beginning.

This case has been in the news for well over a month as little details have leaked out about what kind of evidence is going to be used. Things like Michael’s body and old dance tapes are to be shown as evidence.

The defense's request for a time extension came after the prosecution introduced a new head witness that would prove Michael could not have given himself the fatal dose of Propofol, says Monsters & Critics.

The defense will try to plead that Jackson was desperate for sleep after his rehearsals and getting ready for his big tour. Time will tell what happens when the case finally starts, but one thing is for certain, the world will be watching.

The Michael Jackson Trial: An Anatomy of the Defense

by Anne Bremner
"Show me a hero and I will write you a tragedy"
- F. Scott Fitzgerald

The Michael Jackson case was won by excellent preparation and lawyering by Thomas Mesereau (who was nothing short of “mesmerizing”). The trial ultimately became a three-ring circus—the circus outside of court, a circus inside the court and a circus in the mind of the accuser’s mother, who ultimately became the fulcrum of the trial and the downfall of the prosecution. The netherworld of the Neverland trial fascinates to this day.

The Defense Packaged Jackson Well
"All Children, except one, grow up."
- J.M. Barrie (Peter Pan)

Rather than as advised (putting Michael Jackson in a suit with one hand holding a girlfriend’s hand and the other holding a Bible), the defense dressed Michael Jackson in ornate costumes every day of the trial. During the course of the pre-trial, he wore a white three-piece suit with a gold arm band, the white symbolizing purity and innocence. On Cinco de Mayo, in a town that is 60% Hispanic, he wore a Cinco de Mayo vest. On the day of Jay Leno’s testimony, Jackson wore a joker’s vest, thereby showing a lack of hubris and some humility while facing the man who has been making fun of him on the nightly air waves and calling him a pedophile for months.

Michael Jackson entered as if on a red carpet accompanied by an umbrella holder every single day of the trial. On good days, he would carry his own umbrella and I noted those days on the air. Many celebrities have made mistakes in terms of what they wore to court, including Martha Stewart, who did not show much humility when she arrived for her trial carrying a Hermes Birkin Bag (a style that cost thousands of dollars). Or Courtney Love, who, when tried on charges of being under the influence of cocaine, looked like a rock star train wreck dressed in grungy cardigans and even a black strapless evening gown, showing disregard for the seriousness of the charges. Michael Jackson wore multi-colored jackets, different colored armbands, royal crests and military medals. Sometimes he looked like a toy soldier; other times he looked like a prep-school dandy. Throughout all, Michael Jackson conveyed to the jury a constant reminder that he is not like everybody else. He is rock-and-roll royalty, he is a celebrity, and he deserves special consideration. The Los Angeles Times called this the "fashion defense."

Michael Jackson Was Portrayed As Being in Tragic Decline

"Michael Jackson is one of the last living Innocents."
- Steven Spielberg

During the course of his trial, Michael Jackson visited the hospital on five separate occasions. He appeared vulnerable, childlike and sweet before the jury. Unlike Scott Peterson, his courtroom demeanor was absolutely perfect for this trial. He was respectful to the jurors, to the lower court staff, to the judge, and to everyone else involved in the trial. He also appeared to be in tragic decline throughout the trial. It was as if the trial was killing him. It would be difficult for the jury to convict and send to prison for the rest of his life a man who was barely holding on during the course of the trial itself. He weighed approximately 115 pounds. There were times during the trial that he had to go to the restroom to be sick, and he often appeared to be in obvious physical distress. He was taken to the hospital during jury selection, missing court, and showed up late for court in his pajamas, having been hospitalized yet again. The jury was aware that he was hospitalized twice during jury deliberations. It is human nature not to want to take out somebody who is already gone, and the defense sent the subliminal message through this that Michael Jackson had been punished enough (if there was some specter of belief in the jury’s mind that he was indeed guilty of child molestation).

Tom Mesereau was Mesmerizing

"If you squint your eyes it all makes sense"
- Anonymous producer regarding a made-for-TV movie about the Mary Kay Letourneau trial.

Thomas Mesereau was not the typical celebrity lawyer. He worked hard, he was dogged, he was prepared, and he pandered to no one. ABC News analyst Dana Cole stated, “Once Tom came on board, there was no more Hollywood slickness. He just decided to dig in and do the work, and I think that brought a lot of integrity and credibility to this case.”

Through the work of the defense, Michael Jackson’s world all made sense to the jurors. He was portrayed from the beginning, in the opening statement, as an odd genius who sits in a wishing tree and writes songs, as a Peter Pan and vulnerable child who would rather hang out with chimps than humans, one who surrounds himself with little children but is also the patron saint of children. Michael Jackson’s songs have healed the world and make the world a better place for children, and “What More Can I Give” and “We are the World” conveyed well to the jury. Michael Jackson was shown to be vulnerable throughout his life, because he was a child star, and that people only wanted to take advantage of him and that he never knew who to trust.

The culmination of that victimization was the prosecution brought by Santa Barbara County against him. Here the defense successfully put forth the theme that the case was about “money, money and more money,” and that the family simply wanted a conviction so they could extract even more money out of Michael Jackson. While the prosecution portrayed Neverland as “Pinocchio’s Pleasure Island,” the defense showed it as a refuge for children, the disadvantaged, the downtrodden, and the needy from all over the world. Neverland Valley Ranch had a full zoo, full arcade and movie theater, guest houses and its own fire department and miniature train and train station.

The Defense Closing Was Compelling

"Everybody gets so much information every day they lose their common sense."
- Gertrude Stein

The defense brought home its central theme in closing: if you have the slightest doubt regarding the credibility of the victim and his family, then Michael Jackson must go home. If you have the slightest doubt about the credibility of this family, then the prosecution fails. If you do not believe this family beyond a reasonable doubt, you must acquit. This is a family of con artists, liars and actors. Perjury is a habit for them. It is a pattern. The defense was able to show that the prosecution oversold their case and underperformed miserably, and instilled in the jury complicated feelings about the child star who grew up before all of our eyes. They pulled on the jury’s heartstrings about Jackson, his three little children and his family, including his mother, who were also dependent upon him.

The twists, turns and misfires in the twilight zone of the prosecution’s case were all turned against them. The defense called to the jury, essentially saying that jury duty is the highest calling in citizenship per Abraham Lincoln, and that the jurors needed to rise to the occasion and do the right thing. The verdict of acquittal was more reminiscent of the Scottish verdict of “not proven,” and that result was the natural progression from a very well-prepared and tried defense case and a failed prosecution.

The defense won because, (1) they were prepared; (2) they hit a home run in opening statement; (3) they destroyed the mother on the stand and thereby the son; (4) at every opportunity, they played the rebuttal video where the family denied being falsely imprisoned by, and spoke of their love for, Michael Jackson; (5) they presented Michael Jackson as a victim of opportunistic vultures and in tragic decline; (6) Debbie Rowe, the mother of two of his children, was a gem; (7) they had beautiful PR; (8) they had appropriate themes; (9) they capitalized on Michael Jackson’s celebrity; (10) they had a clear lead on the defense team; (11) they showed family support and had the mother Kathryn Jackson front and center; and (12) they took on Thomas Sneddon as a character out of Les Misérables.

“He could sing in front of 90,000 people but in front of 3 it is very difficult for him. We have sat in my studio when he is going to sing a new song and I had to close my eyes and turn my back.”
- Quincey J
ones

Michael Jackson has left the building. He felt absolved. He was fully exonerated, although jurors have now indicated they have doubts about their verdict. The question is, was he bad? Was he the pedophile he was painted to be, or was he invincible? Was he truly innocent?

The prosecution had the haunting words of the accuser’s mother, “Michael Jackson has fooled the world.” Perhaps he did fool this jury. If Michael Jackson was indeed guilty and was wrongfully acquitted, perhaps his most lasting legacy is not (as he has claimed) helping children as the “patron saint of children.” Instead, it is in raising awareness regarding child molestation and the difficulty in proving these cases, thereby ironically helping to protect our world’s children from people like Michael Jackson in the future.

"I have seen him with children; they won't let him go to the bathroom without running in. They won't let him out of their sight. They even jump in bed with him."
- Lisa Maria Presley

Adele CANCELLED: Singer Cancels U.S. Tour Due to Vocal Chord Hemorrhage

Adele Sick at Home
ADELE TOUR - CANCELLED

Bad news for Adele fans.

The singer has had to cancel her upcoming sold out U.S. concert tour due to a hemorrhage in her vocal chords.

This is yet another setback for the singer’s unfortunate and ongoing health conditions.

Adele was supposed to take the stage tonight (Friday October 7, 2011) in Atlantic City New Jersey.

She also had to cancel some of Her U.K. concerts last month because of a chest infection but later made up those dates.

Doctors say the stress of her constant performing has placed a stress on her voice and vocal chords and she is now being treated and subject to intense vocal rest.

If Adele does not adhere to the Doctors orders to rest her voice she stands to permanently damage her vocal chords and alter her voice.

The “Rolling in the Deep” singer took to her official web site to say,

“Singing is literally my life; it’s my hobby, my love, my freedom and now my job. I have absolutely no choice but to recuperate properly and fully, or I risk damaging my voice forever.

I will be back and I’m gonna smash the ball out the park once I’m touring again.  I apologize from the bottom of my heart, sincerely I do.

I know it’s not only disappointing because of the show, but it’s the plane tickets, hotel bookings, birthdays, anniversaries and time wasted.

But please have faith in me that this is the only thing I can do to make sure I can always sing and always make music for you to the best of my ability.”

Adele has been battling voice and health problems for almost a year and originally postponed her U.S. tour in June due to laryngitis.

Her U.S. tour was scheduled to take her through Atlantic City, Durham North Carolina, Nashville Tennessee, Asheville North Carolina, Orlando and Miami Florida, Atlanta, Georgia, Spring Texas, Austin Texas.

All these shows have now ben cancelled.

The singer promised to keep her fans in the loop on everything that is happening with her and when she plans to start planning her return to the road.

But for now, the best thing is to rest her voice and let us continue to enjoy her already released music.

Get well soon Adele!

Michael Jackson is again back in the news headlines.

Michael Jackson
Michael Jackson is again back in the news headlines courtesy his former bodyguards as TMZ reports on the latest development.

The three former bodyguards of King of Pop told Good Morning America that their boss was not at all a pedophile as he loved to make out with women’s and women’s only. The threebodyguards Mike Garcia, Bill Whitfield and Javon “BJ” Beard revealed the secret life of their former employer as they said how they would guard him as he went on to make out with girls in the back seat of the car.

They appeared in the show GMA powered by ABC as they revealed all the minute details. They said that MJ’s lifestyle was very painful and he led a life of a depressive maniac who was always into some sought of a trouble and more importantly was very lonely.

One of his bodyguards, BJ was also quoted saying that MJ always had his doctor’s mask on and always wore bandages not for hiding any secret surgeries but was used as a disguise. Bill Whitfield further added: “That disguise to him was the burn victim look.”

The three signed to serve the deceased star in 2007 and became an integral part of his life as they had to protect MJ, his children’s and his secrets.

They also said that MJ’s mansion was a horrible place to live in. The public may find it very interesting but it was not at all a great place to live in for the King of Pop.

Michael Jackson: India is keen to gift a statue of the late king of the pop

A Chennai based granite firm has have carved out a statue of Michael Jackson from a single black granite rock which has been a centre of attraction at Stona 2010 a stonemasonry fair held in Bengalura, India. The creators of the eye-catchingstatue now want the statue to be installed in Neverland Ranch which is the former home Californian home of MJ and so they have written to the Jackson family offering to ship thestatue to Santa Barbara.

The 12 feet 3.5 ton statue was built by six craftsmen in 45 days. It was a challenging project because granite is generally brittle and it’s not easy to chisel it into shape especially the eyes and face. But still the skilled Indian craftsman has successfully managed to carve out thestatue from a single rock from Kanakapuram mines.

But why Indians have taken the trouble to build MJ’s statue? Indo – American statesman Rajan explains “”It should be of no surprise that this piece was crafted in India because Michael Jackson had a very special place with India and Hinduism. Michael reportedly learned how to meditate and he was vegetarian. According to reports, he was reading India’s first Nobel laureate Rabindranath Tagore’s poems during the last days of his life.”

His 1982 album Thriller remains the best-selling album of all time, with four others — Off the Wall (1979), Bad (1987), Dangerous (1991), and HIStory (1995) — among the best selling. He popularized several intricate dance moves, such as the robot and the moonwalk. He is widely credited with having transformed the music video from a promotional tool into an art form, with videos for his songs "Billie Jean", "Beat It" and "Thriller" making him the first African American artist to amass a strong crossover following on MTV, and has influenced scores of music artists.

LOS ANGELES (Reuters) - Michael Jackson, the child star turned King of Pop who set the world dancing but whose musical genius was overshadowed by a bizarre lifestyle and sex scandals, died on Thursday. He was 50.
Jackson was pronounced dead at about 2:26 p.m. PDT (2126 GMT) after arriving at a Los Angeles hospital in full cardiac arrest, said Fred Corral of the Los Angeles County Coroner's office. The cause of death was not known and an autopsy would likely take place on Friday, he said.
Jackson's sudden death had been reported earlier by U.S. media, which said he was taken ill at his home and rushed to the hospital by paramedics who found him not breathing when they arrived.
Known as the "King of Pop," for hits that included "Thriller" and "Billie Jean," Jackson's dramatic, one-gloved stage presence and innovative dance moves were imitated by legions of fans around the world.
He transformed music videos and his lifetime record sales tally is believed to be around 750 million, which, added to the 13 Grammy Awards he received, made him one of the most successful entertainers of all time.
But Jackson's belief that "I am Peter Pan in my heart", his preference for the company of children, his friendship with a chimp, his high-pitched voice and numerous plastic surgeries also earned him critics and the nickname "Wacko Jacko."
Jackson, who had lived as a virtual recluse since his acquittal in 2005 on charges of child molestation, had been scheduled to launch a comeback tour from London next month.
Quincy Jones, who helped arrange the music on the album "Thriller" and produced the "Off the Wall" album, told MSNBC: "I am absolutely devastated at this tragic and unexpected news."
"For Michael to be taken away from us so suddenly at such a young age, I just don't have the words. I've lost my little brother today, and part of my soul has gone with him."

SOLD-OUT SHOWS

Jackson had been due to start a series of concerts in London on July 13 running until March 2010. The singer had been rehearsing in the Los Angeles area for the past two months. The shows for the 50 London concerts sold out within minutes of going on sale in March.
"Rarely has the world received a gift with the magnitude of artistry, talent, and vision as Michael Jackson," said Neil Portnow, president and CEO of The Recording Academy in a statement.
"He was a true musical icon whose identifiable voice, innovative dance moves, stunning musical versatility, and sheer star power carried him from childhood to worldwide acclaim."
There were concerns about Jackson's health in recent years but the promoters of the London shows, AEG Live, said in March that Jackson had passed a 4-1/2 hour physical examination with independent doctors.
Outside the hospital in Los Angeles about 200 fans and reporters gathered on Thursday, waiting for confirmation of Jackson's death or condition.
Some fans were crying and hugging each other, and others were climbing atop fences to get a better look at a microphone stand where a news conference was supposed to take place.
"I hope he's gone to God, and I hope that he's free of all the troubles he's been plagued with," Tonya Blazer, 50, who said she had been a fan going back more than four decades to his days as a child star.
"I just feel like I'm paying tribute to him," said Dawn Burgess, 42, a fan who said she had posters of Michael pinned to her bedroom wall when she was a child.

CHILD STAR TO MEGASTAR

Jackson was born on Aug. 29, 1958, in Gary, Indiana, the seventh of nine children. Five Jackson boys -- Jackie, Tito, Jermaine, Marlon and Michael -- first performed together at a talent show when Michael was 6. They walked off with first prize and went on to become a best-selling band, The Jackson Five, and then The Jackson 5.
Jackson made his first solo album in 1972, and released "Thriller" in 1982, which became a smash hit that yielded seven top-10 singles. The album sold 21 million copies in the United States and at least 27 million worldwide.
The next year, he unveiled his signature "moonwalk" dance move while performing "Billie Jean" during an NBC special.
In 1994, Jackson married Elvis Presley's only child, Lisa Marie, but the marriage ended in divorce in 1996. Jackson married Debbie Rowe the same year and had two children, before splitting in 1999. The couple never lived together.
Jackson has three children named Prince Michael I, Paris Michael and Prince Michael II, known for his brief public appearance when his father held him over the railing of a hotel balcony, causing widespread criticism.
New Yorkers and tourists in the city's Times Square were shocked at the news of Jackson's death.
"I don't know what to say. It's sad, it's really, really sad," said Nicole Smith, an 18-year-old student from Brooklyn, New York, in Times Square. "My mother was a fan. I listened to his music."
"I'm shocked. I thought someone was lying to me when I first heard it. I was a fan from when he was a little boy and then he got weird," said Sue Sheider, 51, a teacher from Long Island.

MAY HE REST IN PEACE
